Now that the afternoons & have gotten cooler & shorter, I find that our fiance & I are going to bed a bit earlier. Our ranch-style beach house is fairly current & our HVAC system is top-notch. Both of us have a great HVAC professional that keeps our oil furnace & air conditioner tested & serviced on a typical basis. What does all of this have to do with going to bed earlier in the Wintertide months? It has to do with insufficient heat distribution from the main living quarters to the end of the hall where our kitchen is situated. We’ve spoken to our heating & cooling girl about it, & she had many problems that she discussed with us. She said that it’s often the case that the oil furnace isn’t giant enough to heat every section of the beach house sufficiently, which definitely isn’t the case with ours. In addition to the size of the oil furnace is the size of the ductwork, the home’s air-delivery system. If these ducts are too small, or have cracks or leaks, the sizzling air won’t make its way to every section of the apartment evenly. She checked our ducts more than once, & this isn’t a problem either. A straightforward problem to look for when a room isn’t receiving sufficient heat is to check that the air registers aren’t clogged by furniture, clothes, rugs, etc. That was an easy enough item to check off the list too. She already knew that every one of us properly changed our air filter on the oil furnace. My fiance does that on a bi-weekly basis, realizing that even if the air filter doesn’t apply to be dirty, it still needs to be changed. Our last pick is to have a zoning system installed, & every one of us are seriously considering having that done.
